This is a business show-case for professional AV equipment manufacturers and service providers. 3Q Enterprises went to the show in support of OWLink Technology, one of our key clients. OWLink has the OWL-Net / Digital Light Interface, the technology to combine uncompressed HD video, control signals, and many other bidirectional digital data stream combined into a single optic fiber that extends 300 feet and more.
The technology has many applications not just to consumer market, but for commercial / professional AV systems installations. In fact, after seeing through other attending companies' booths, we are convinced they have the finest cable extension / network integration solution. Weknew that back then when we took them on a few years back, we know even more now.
The show was attended by great many (I ran out of my fingers to count but according to the sources, more than 30,000 from 80+ countries attended the show), and the great deal of enthusiasm was in the air. At least it did not feel like we are in the middle of global recession. Hope this spirit carries on.
We've met several prominent people in business, and conveyed our messages. We've made a few friends in the process. We shall try to hold dialogue with these people, in the hope to develop new businesses. For that, the show was a good success for us. Both in terms of new business opportunities, and studying the present state of the market.
You can read about it on the papers and journals, but you "feel" it in a big show like this.
This is not the first year OWLink has been to Infocomm. But this year, there are several companies showcasing the products that use OWLink's technology, and/or using it for their booth setup, including Crestron, Vivitek, Beijing CuanBo JiYe Electronics, Snart AVI. That is a good publicity.
Crestron in particular, as one of the biggest professional AV equipment manufacturer, had one of the largest booth in the show. They had a neat display showing their "HDMI Solutions" -- see next page -- that is OWLink. We took several of our customers there to show off.
All this, despite humid, 95 degree weather. In fact, on Tuesday when we arrived, we've had a good thunderstorm in the area (we couldn't go out for dinner) and Thursday evening when we were leaving, a major storm struck the area, delaying the deaprting flight for several hours.
Well, at least we got back without having to sleep in the flight terminal, thank god.
The show was perfectly lined up to watch Space Shuttle launch on Wednesday dawn, but Tuesday thunderstorm and the hydrogen leak combined, delayed the launch so no such luck. Oh well, so we came here to work.
At least we've had a very good dinner at Salt Island restaurant. The blackened Groper was ve--ery good.
So now we are back in So Cal, back to daily not-so-routine. But we've definitely caught some spirit and enthusiasm from the show, which continue to drive us. May the AV business prevail.
